Kerouac
To my surprize, Wired published today a great article; tribute to Kerouac’s “On The Road” (the book is turning 50 this year).
I will spare you the explaining, what the beat culture is. In my opinion, the spirit of “On The Road” has nothing to do with modern day beatniks, which is just another way of saying “pretentious Web2.0’ed Gen-C bores” (this sounds like something you read out of a Powerpoint for VCs, I know).
It is more in tune with those people’s lifes, that try to find themselves in the ever growing, constantly accelerating, globalized world of ours. They may have never heard of the beat culture or, for that matter, Jack Kerouac. But I think they should.
I remember giving a copy of mine to Karandashova, when leaving for college. I don’t think, she’s read it. And I’ll be damned, if I remember, what I’ve wrote on the backside of the hardcover. But the thing is, I’m spreading the word.
Spread the word. Much love.
